Philosophy of Education
I have yet to put together a proper Philosophy of Education; instead I'd like to share my inspiration and experiences in teaching. My decision to pursue a career in teaching was influenced by my own secondary level education. I have always been interested in history and social studies, however high school left more to be desired. I found my history teachers and courses to be lacking. It wasn't until I reached college when I was exposed to and challenged by amazing history professors; convincing me that teaching history was the right path for me. My experience as an Instructional Assistant further assured me of my decision. Working in an elementary school, taught me much about students and myself. Regardless of the education level, being an IA taught me to be aware of students' needs, their strengths and areas in which they could improve with the right support. Working with my second graders was extremely rewarding and a daily reminder of what I hope to achieve with my future students. |
