Reflection
I was a bit hesitant when I downloaded Audacity since I've never used any type of audio editing program but once I got started and referred to the class' Weebly for guidance, it was pretty straight forward. Getting the recording just right was a totally different story. This project was one that brought out my perfectionist, nit picky tendencies. While Audacity is much more forgiving than say, Flipgrid- I was determined to record the track that required the least amount of editing and was basically the "final draft". This took a while. While working on this project, I realized this would be a great tool to apply in a history classroom. One way I could envision this being interesting for students would be to concentrate on a time period within a course (World History, U.S. etc) and create chronological podcast episodes on events/people of their choice. I believe it would be a way to make history engaging to students by having them "tell the story" and improve on historical thinking skills such as comparison, interpretation of evidence and cause & consequence. |
